The salon will discuss and reflect upon the New York City based contemporary art festival Performa’s intentions when stating performance art as the new public art form. How can performative art strategies and practises create dialogue, community and co-operations in local communities and between different social groups?

Panelists: Video- and performance artist Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen, visual- and performance artist Molly Haslund and artistic director of the queer venue Warehouse 9, Jørgen Callesen.

Moderator: Editor of the web magazine Kunsten.nu, Matthias Borello

WHITENESS AND INTERCULTURE

The colour white has provided the setting for art throughout modern art history. It has symbolised purity and neutrality, but in light of recent debate about institutional racism, political correctness and Denmark’s colonial history, it is time to investigate how whiteness is being nuanced through contemporary intercultural art practice.

Panelists: researcher Mikela Lundahl from The Institute for Art and Cultural Science at Copenhagen University, artist Javier Tapia and artist Lillibeth Cuenca Rasmussen.

The colour white has provided the setting for art throughout modern art history. It has symbolised purity and neutrality, but in the light of the recent debate in Denmark about institutional racism, political correctness and Denmark’s colonial history, it is time to investigate what whiteness also means and what the ’white cube’ can accommodate.

Panelists include artist Annarose Krøyer, curator Tone Olaf Nielsen and Mohamed Ali Fadlabi.
